Summer Teacher Development Programmes 2023
The Centre for International Training and Education (CITE) at the University of Leicester offers two summer courses for the professional development of experienced teachers: the EAP Teacher Development Programme and the EMI Teacher Development Programme.
EAP TEACHER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
Who is the course for?
This two-week course is designed for experienced English teachers who wish to learn more about the special features of English for Academic Purposes (EAP).
It is a unique opportunity to grasp the fundamentals of EAP in action in one of the UK’s leading EAP teaching centres.
Course objectives
- To raise awareness of theoretical and practical issues underlying EAP course design and methodology
- To introduce a range of practical classroom applications
- To promote self-awareness and self-directed teacher development
- To give insight into the areas of EAP contexts, methodology and students
EMI TEACHER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
Who is the course for?
This two-week course is designed for academic staff who are using, or planning to use, English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI), i.e., teaching their academic subject in the English language. The course addresses the issues and challenges of teaching in English, covering methodology, techniques and strategies which can all be personalised to individual EMI contexts.
Course objectives
- To identify the key issues in EMI and understand global and national trends
- To introduce techniques and strategies to enhance students’ learning and engagement
- To explore and use effective language for supporting course and assessment documentation
- To study the effective use of language in EMI
- To provide participants with options and ideas to be implemented in their own teaching context

Both programmes will run from the 24 July to the 4 August 2023. They each have course fees of £1,500 and a discount is available for our partners. There is a scholarship available for the EAP course. Masterpraktikum in Kooperation mit der Universität Vic (Spanien) im Wintersemester 2023/24
- Sie möchten Ihr großes Masterpraktikum im Wintersemester 2023/24 absolvieren?
- Sie möchten dabei Auslandserfahrung sammeln und das Schulsystem in einem anderen Land hautnah kennenlernen?
- Sie studieren das Unterrichtsfach Englisch?
Dann ist folgendes Angebot genau richtig für Sie: Im Wintersemester 2023/24 gibt es für zwei Anglistik- und Amerikanistik-Lehramtsstudierende die Möglichkeit, das große Masterpraktikum in Kooperation mit der Universität Vic in der Nähe von Barcelona, Spanien, zu absolvieren. Sprachliche Voraussetzung ist zumindest ein B2 Englischniveau. Spanischkenntnisse oder Kenntnisse in Katalanisch sind nicht erforderlich.
