Anna Mavrikou is a research fellow and doctoral candidate at the division of Public Spheres and Inequalities at the department of Communication Studies. She has studied Communication Science and Journalism in Greece and Germany. As a scholarship recipient of the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) and the Onassis Foundation, she completed her master’s degree in Journalism and Communication Studies at Freie Universität Berlin in 2021. In her master’s thesis, Anna Mavrikou examined post-migrant podcasts that deal with topics such as origin and belonging and are moderated by journalists. In 2017, she completed her bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication with a focus on Journalism at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece. Her bachelor thesis focused on the German-Greek press (German-language newspapers in Greece and Greek-language newspapers in Germany) during the crisis years 2008-2015. Utilising her practical experience in journalism and public relations, she researches and writes in English, German and Greek.
