In February 1987 I started my academic career at the Faculty of Law of the Johannes Kepler University Linz. After two years of intensive study of law, I transferred to the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg, where I then studied Political Science/History. I received my Mag.phil. degree on January 16, 1997. My thesis topic – “Federalism and Regionalism. Two cornerstones of European integration” – dealt with the European future, which actually followed me throughout my studies.
Internships such as at the Federal Chancellery (Integration Policy Coordination) and at the Representation of the European Commission in Austria and courses such as at the European University Institute in Florence and at the East-West Academy for Management and Marketing Linz additionally shaped my studies in the direction of Europe.
