Guest lecture by Karim El-Gawhary on The Arab Neighbourhood: Facing Social Collapse

To celebrate the start of the winter semester, the department of Public Spheres and Inequalities invited a special guest to Salzburg: Karim El-Gawhary, correspondent for the ORF in the Middle East, visited the University Library on the 6th of October. In an interview with Prof. Dr. Hanan Badr, he talked about his experiences in the Middle East and in the Arab region. Karim El-Gawhary not only shared his knowledge of the region with the audience, but also told moving stories about the people he met during his journalistic research. After the talk, in cooperation with Kremayr & Scheriau Publishers and the University Library, there was an opportunity for informal discussion over bread and wine. Enthusiastic listeners took the time to ask the expert their questions and to get a copy of his new book  Repression und Rebellion: Arabische Revolution–was nun?.
