The Camp is co-lead by Dr. Corey Dolgon, USA and Dr. Eberhard Raithelhuber, Austria.
Corey DOLGON
Dr. Dolgon
is Professor of Sociology at Stonehill College near Boston, MA, USA, and also a labor activist and singer and songwriter. He has a long history of teaching and training students in applied and collaborative research methods. He has written widely on various forms of public sociology and the politics of engaged research and teaching. He also has experience in Austria and understands the regional history and issues of poverty, ethnicity, and efforts at community development. In particular, Dr. Dolgon’s CV lists numerous institutions in the United States, Ireland, Austria and elsewhere which have sought his expertise in course design, methods workshops and training, various other aspects of public research and the integration of theory and practice.
Dr. Dolgon is President (2020-2021) of the Society for the Study of Social Problems and Past President of the Association for Humanist Sociology.
Eberhard RAITHELHUBER
Dr. Raithelhuber is a social scientist with a special emphasis on social work and social pedagogy. From 2014 to 2021 he worked at the Department of Educational Science of the University of Salzburg as an Assistant Professor, where he also was awarded the „venia docendi“ (authorization to teach) after his Habilitation in 2019. Dr. Raithelhuber has conducted research on people living in marginalized conditions, including close interaction with activists and civic and public actors. In particular, he studied social practices of “transnational begging” and related policies, as well as a youth mentoring project for “unaccompanied refugee minors” in the Austrian context. Dr. Raithelhuber has a broad international experience, both in his professional and private life, the latter with life stages in Germany, Italy, Mexico and Austria. As a transnational activist, he has more than ten years’ experience in human rights work with indigenous communities in Mexico. Training early-stage researchers and allowing students to gain international and practical experiences are among his primary concerns.
Dr. Raithelhuber is Co-Chair (2020–21) of the Transnational Initiatives Committee within the Society for the Study of Social Problems. Since 2015, he has been acting as Secretary of the Social Pedagogy Section within the Austrian Association of Research and Development in Education ( ÖFEB-Sektion Sozialpädagogik).
