Project „Open.Heart“ wins European Public Sector Award 2017
Today, the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) presented the European Public Sector Awards 2017 to the 3 winning projects in the administrative categories European and National, Regional, and Supra-local and Local. This prestigious award recognises the best and most innovative performers in pubic administrations across Europe.
In the Regional administrative category, the EPSA 2017 trophy was awarded to the “ Open.Heart Project”, submitted by the Ombudsoffice for Children and Youths Salzburg (AT). This project is a mentoring scheme for unaccompanied minor refugees and young refugees up to 21 years, including a 6-module preparatory programme for volunteers over 28 wanting to become mentors. Additionally, an alternative foster care scheme, which is closely linked to the Open.Heart project and in which young refugees can live together with a host family, was developed by the Ombudsoffice. From its beginnings the ‘Open.Heart’ project has been accompanied by an evaluation team based at the University of Salzburg. The first results show that the project is making a vital contribution to processes of integration and social inclusion.

Projekt „Open.Heart“ gewinnt Europäischen Verwaltungspreis
150 spannende Projekte aus allen EU-Ländern hatten sich dieses Jahr um den europäischen Verwaltungspreis, den „Oscar“der öffentlichen Administration, beworben. Im Finale konnte sich „Open.Heart“, das Salzburger Patenschaftsprojekt fürjugendliche Flüchtlinge, gegen 18 internationale Mitbewerber durchsetzen und ist somit Sieger in der Kategorie „Regionales“.
