Short CV
Melanie Holztrattner’s interest, in how children and young people grow up, their social position in society and questions of upbringing, education and care, led her to study educational science. Since then, she has had the opportunity to deal extensively with these issues at an academic level and to acquire relevant theoretical, empirical and methodological expertise.
Melanie Holztrattner works as a postdoctoral research associate in the Social Pedagogy working group at the Department of Educational Science and is lecturer at the University of Teacher Education in the field of early childhood education and care and inclusive pedagogy. Previously, she worked as an assistant of the Professor of Educational Science in the field of inclusion at the Salzburg University of Education, as a student assistant and project assistant at the Department of Educational Science at the University of Salzburg and in the practical field of social pedagogy.
Research and teaching topics
The main research areas are in the context of social and elementary education as well as in the qualitative-reconstructive paradigm. The topics are l: Growing up in the field of tension between the public/institutional and private/family spheres

- Child and youth welfare, residential child and youth care
- Qualitative-reconstructive research methodology: in particular narrative interviews, participant observation, documentary method, research ethics
