Dr. Matteo Carmignola works as a researcher at the University of Salzburg. Following his studies in theology, religious education, and educational science, he is currently completing his PhD-thesis on the school-based change management of school turnaround initiatives. His research focuses on the application of motivational theories (mainly the Self-Determination Theory and the Personality System Interactions Theory) in teacher education, secondary school teaching, teachers’ professional development, and school improvement planning. As a lecturer, he has taught university courses on research methodology, empirical educational research, and school improvement planning. Currently, he is attending two postgraduate programs on higher education management (University of Oldenburg) and organizational development consulting (Sigmund Freud University -Vienna).
