It is sponsored by the Department of Culture, Education and Knowledge of the City of Salzburg and the Department for Women, Diversity and Equal Opportunities of the State of Salzburg, and is endowed with 3,000 Euro.

An Erika Weinzierl Scholarship for a dissertation project in the field of women’s and gender studies will also be awarded. The scholarship is sponsored by the Department of Culture, Education and Knowledge of the City of Salzburg and is endowed with 2,500 Euro.

Application requirements

  • Both the prize and the scholarship require that the submitted work engages innovatively with gender studies – in particular, with the intersectional connections between gender and other structural categories.
  • Master’s theses, diploma theses, and PhD theses submitted at the University of Salzburg after 1 June 2023, are eligible for submission for the prize.
  • The scholarship supports ongoing dissertation projects.

Applications from all faculties and disciplines are welcome. The prize and scholarship aim – in addition to recognizing and supporting outstanding academic work with a focus on gender – to make knowledge from these fields visible to the broader public.
