FACULTY OF CATHOLIC THEOLOGY

The oldest faculty of the Paris Lodron University Salzburg (PLUS), the Faculty of Catholic Theology, remained unchanged in the course of the comprehensive structural reform at the university in 2022.

The Faculty of Catholic Theology comprises the four departments: Philosophy, Biblical Studies & Ecclesiastical History, Systematic Theology and Practical Theology.

The Faculty of Theology is a place of critical reflection on existential fundamental questions of being human, Christian faith and its religious traditions.

Dean: Assoz.-Prof. Dr. Michael Zichy

“Especially in times of uncertainty, when people are increasingly seeking refuge in esotericism and conspiracy theories, the theological subjects are of great importance and serve as orientation. The Faculty of Theology values the importance of ensuring that this reflection takes place at the cutting edge of the times, is in interdisciplinary dialogue with the other sciences and faces challenges of the present,” emphasises Dean Assoz.-Prof. Dr. Michael Zichy.

The faculty wants to become Austria’s most attractive theological study location by offering highly innovative studies with first-class supervision, states Zichy.
