UPDATE: Young Investigators Award 2022

Dear colleagues and doctoral candidates,

the call for the Young Investigators Award 2022 is extended. We invite all doctoral candidates and all PostDocs who have recently completed their PhD to apply by 8 July 2022. We ask dissertation supervisors, heads of departments or DSP colleagues to encourage dissertation candidates to get involved!

For several years, the PLUS has awarded the Young Investigators Award to the best dissertation projects at the university. This year, we would like to offer our students the opportunity to present their work to a jury of experts and – for the first time – in front of a public jury.

Those enrolled in a doctoral programme at the PLUS or who have completed it in the last year are invited to take part. Those currently working on their dissertation should at least be able to present preliminary findings.

Participants may submit entries for the following categories:

  • Making Sense: Theology, Philosophy and Religion
  • Investigating Language, Literature and the Arts: Humanities
  • Understanding society: Education, History, Social Sciences
  • Exploring Law and Economics
  • Explaining Nature: Natural and Life Sciences
  • Learning About Data: Analytical and Digital Sciences

The three best submitted abstracts for each category will be selected. Candidates will then be invited to give a presentation to the public, followed by a discussion. These lectures will take place at different faculty locations. The winners will be awarded prizes at the “Night of Excellence” (date to be announced, planned for November 2022). At this event, an audience award will also be presented. The winners will present their research in the form of short presentations and the audience will select the best presentation via live voting. Details about the Young Investigators Award can be found on the Doctorate School PLUS website.

 For the Rectorate:

Martin Weichbold | Vice-rector for Academic Affairs

and

Nicola Hüsing | Vice-rector for Research and Sustainability
