The Department of Mathematics is seeking to fill the position of university assistant in compliance with the Austrian University law (Universitätsassistent*en/in gem. § 26 Kollektivvertrag der Universitäten, position level B1). The monthly salary is € 2.786,10 gross (14 times per year).
- Starting date: 1st October 2025
- Duration of contract: 4 years
- 30/week
- Working hours: by arrangement
Areas of responsibility:
- Scientific support in research and teaching in the field of mathematics and in particular analysis
- Administrative tasks
- Independent research activities including the writing and publication of a dissertation
- From the third year of employment, independent teaching to the extent of two hours per week
- Collaboration in the research project: Classical and fractional elastic energies for curves and surfaces
Job requirements:
- Completed diploma or master’s degree
- Commencement of relevant doctoral studies at the University of Salzburg
Additional requirements:
- Very good academic record
- Knowledge of the theory of partial differential equations and differential geometry of curves and surfaces
- Excellent command of English
Personal qualities:
Ability to work independently and autonomously, determination, enthusiasm for academic teaching and research activities, ability to work in a team, reliability, willingness to attend conferences.
