Philipp Harfst is Senior Scientist at the Department of Political Science at University of Salzburg. His main research interests include comparative political institutions, institutional change and its consequences as well as comparative electoral research. His courses taught revolve around the areas of Political Science Methods, Social Science Statistics, German Politics in Comparative Perspective, Comparative Electoral Research as well as Political Institutions and their change.
Philipp Harfst completed his doctorate at University of Lüneburg in 2007 under the supervision of Ferdinand Müller-Rommel (University of Lüneburg) and Bernhard Weßels (WZB – Berlin Social Science Centre). Before coming to Salzburg, he held positions as Research Assistant at the universities of Düsseldorf (2000-2003) and Lüneburg (2003-2008), as Professor of Political Science Methods (2008-2015) and of Comparative Politics (2015-2016) at University of Greifswald (2008-2015), and as Visiting Professor at University of Oldenburg’s Chair of German Politics.
