Brunhilde Scheuringer was Professor of Sociology in the Department of Political Science and Sociology at the University of Salzburg until her retirement in 1997. After her diploma studies at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (degree in 1967), doctoral studies followed at the University of Linz (degree in 1971) and finally her habilitation in sociology at the University of Salzburg in 1982. She taught sociology there until her retirement. Her research focuses on the sociology of refugees and migration, the sociology of work and occupation, and social structure analyses.

The PLUS offers 30 fields of study, which range from theology to law, business and economics, natural and life sciences to digital and analytical sciences as well as cultural and social sciences. Here at the PLUS, there are almost 18,000 students completing Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD programmes. This diverse offer is topped off with supplementary and specialisation courses.
Founded in 1622 by Prince Archbishop Paris Lodron and re-established in 1962, today the PLUS is the largest educational institution in Salzburg.
