Admission Requirements In order to be admitted to the doctoral programme at the Faculty of Cultural and Social Sciences, applicants must hold a Master’s degree in the same field from an accredited inland or international institution of higher education.

What will I learn?

Our doctoral students acquire exceptional knowledge in one of the academic subjects represented at the Faculty of Cultural and Social Sciences at the University of Salzburg, either as a single subject of study or as a component of interdisciplinary research. Doctoral students learn how to apply research methods of their academic field adequately and how to work with relevant research questions autonomously, thereby making a significant contribution to learning in their respective field. Furthermore, doctoral students acquire the capacity for innovation, the ability to critically analyse and evaluate scientific discourses, as well as scientific integrity in developing new ideas or methods in the context of research or teaching.
