What will I learn?

The MEd teacher training programme for the subject of English combines specialized (Advanced English Studies) with subject-didactic (Advanced Planning and Assessment) content. Students hone their language skills (target C2 level), gain competences in the fields of educational sciences, and receive a comprehensive practical school training. Building on the competences students have gained during their BEd, the MEd teacher training programme serves to intensify, specialize and differentiate their knowledge. The plurality of pedagogical task fields demands for students’ flexibility and openness towards diverse cultures of teaching and learning, as well as for the ability to apply the know-how acquired in the theory and practice of the programme in new situations. After the basic training of the BEd programme, this will be especially important in the MEd programme and its practical school training.

Which career opportunities do I have?

The MEd teacher training programme for the subject of English prepares students to teach English at secondary schools and other institutions of education (adult education etc.). Due to the comprehensive education students receive in all areas of English and American Studies, graduates can further choose from a wide range of careers. For example, the fields of academic research, publishing and library work, journalism and other media-related jobs, culture management, public administration, marketing, translation, tourism, and international trade are ideal destinations for English and American Studies graduates.
