Information about PDF/A

Still Readable Tomorrow – Your Publication as PDF/A

Whether it’s a technical article, research report or thesis – you’ve put a lot of knowledge and heart and soul into your publication. It is therefore important that it remains permanently available via ePLUS. By uploading your work to ePLUS in PDF/A format, you support us in the future digital long-term archiving of your research contributions and ensure their long digital life on ePLUS.

PDF/A is a format that is particularly well suited for long-term digital archiving of documents. It complies with the ISO standard ISO 19005-1:2005.
The UB Salzburg repository aims to ensure the long-term availability of archived digital documents. To ensure this, we follow international standards as far as possible.

We therefore recommend using the PDF/A format. The version PDF/A-1b is favorable.
Instructions for converting your documents from various formats (e.g. Word) to PDF/A can be found, for example, on the  Adobe Acrobat support pages.
If you have any questions, please contact the University Library’s Open-Access-Team (), who will be happy to help!
