4. Salzburger Frühlingssymposium – Leben am Limes Der Donaulimes, das Grenzgebiet des römischen Reiches zum sogenannten Barbaricum, war fast fünf Jahrhunderte lang wichtiger Lebensraum, Militär- und Handelszone. Die lokale Bevölkerung vermischte sich mit römischen Händlern und Soldaten. Rund um die Legionslager entstanden neue Siedlungen. Auch ein Straßennetz für Reise und Warentransport wurde geschaffen. Die Donau als Schifffahrtsweg trug maßgeblich zur gesellschaftlichen und wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung dieses Raumes bei. Die 4. Tagung im Rahmen der Veranstaltungsreihe Salzburger Frühlingssymposium ist dem Thema „Leben am römischen Limes“ gewidmet und soll sich mit dem alltäglichen und dem Besonderen im Leben der antiken Bevölkerung am Donaulimes beschäftigen, so unter anderem mit Fragen zu Handel und Wirtschaft, zur Infrastruktur, zu Lebensweise und Wohnkultur, der medizinischen Versorgung und religiösen Themen, wie etwa Totenkult und Begräbnisriten. Auch das aktuelle Thema „Unesco Weltkulturerbe Donaulimes“ und damit verbunden Maßnahmen zum Kulturgüterschutz sollen diskutiert werden. SR E.3314:00 o’clock
