Karl Kraus in Translation WISSENSCHAFT & KUNST // ATELIER, BERGSTR: 12 A // KUNSTQUARTIER Dass Karl Kraus als unübersetzbar zu gelten hat, ist ein Urteil, das seit mindestens fünfzig Jahren mit beharrlicher Regelmäßigkeit kolportiert wird. Auch eine eingehende wissenschaftliche Beschäftigung mit den Kraus-Übersetzungen ist bislang ausgeblieben. Anstatt also den Blick durch das besagte Urteil verstellt zu lassen, schlägt das zu Kraus’ 150. Geburtstag geplante Symposium vor, die Frage einer ‚neuen Sicht‘ auf Kraus im Lichte der Übersetzung zu stellen. Die Veranstaltung möchte sich dementsprechend der Aktualität von Kraus widmen: im historischen wie im gegenwärtigen Sinne, in literarischer wie in wissenschaftsgeschichtlicher Perspektive. Damit soll zugleich eine Lücke der Rezeptionsgeschichte geschlossen werden. Insofern von einer ‚Funktionsgeschichte‘ der Übersetzung auszugehen ist, rückt zudem immer wieder die spezifische Praxeologie des Übersetzens zwischen Wissenschaft und Kunst in den Blick. Nicht zuletzt soll es bei der Veranstaltung auch darum gehen, den (poetischen) Grund der Kraus’schen Texte im Übersetzen neu zu vermessen. 53 Seminarraum16:00 o’clock
