Alexander Meschtscherjakov is Professor for User-Centered-Design at Salzburg University. He is a graduated engineer and holds a doctor’s degree in Computer Science. He was awarded with the venia docendi (i.e. habilitiation) in Human-Computer Interaction from Salzburg University in 2019.

His research is situated in the field of Human-Computer-Interaction and Interaction Design. He focuses on Automotive User Interfaces, Persuasive Technologies, User Experience, SportsHCI and HCI for MINT education. He is also interested in the interplay between Human-Interfaces and Artificial Intelligence.

Prof. Meschtscherjakov was involved in several funded projects, among others the EU-funded projects SAAM (Supporting Active Ageing through Multimodal Coaching) and HADRIAN (Holistic Approach for Driver Role Integration and Automation Allocation for European Mobility), the FWF-funded projects doc.hci (Doctoral College Human-Computer Interaction) and MaDSAV (Maintaining Driving Skills in Autonomous Vehicles), as well as the FFG-funded projects CARA 1&2 (Cuardian Angel), DiMo & DiMo NEXT (Digital Motion in Sports, Fitness and Well-being) and Digibus Austria (Österreichisches Leitprojekt für Erforschung und Erprobung von automatisiertem Fahren im öffentlichen Personennahverkehr).

He was head of curricular commission of the Joint-Master program HCI and is teaching various basic and advanced HCI lectures. He has authored and co-authored more 100 scientific publications (peer-reviewed journal and conference articles), written several book chapters and is the steering committee of several scientific conferences (e.g. AutoUI, Persuasive Technologies).
