Getting to the Conference

You can reach the NaWi – Naturwissenschaftliche Fakultät at Hellbrunner Straße with bus #3 and bis #8, getting off at the stop Faistauergasse, and walk through Faistauergasse and Michael-Pacher-Straße about 400m to our building (see screen shot). Be careful when crossing Alpenstraße. There is a traffic light at the intersection Alpenstraße/Michael-Pacher-Straße.

The best tool to get around Salzburg by bike, and a useful information tool for people who are walking, is  http://radlkarte.info/
Just type in „nawi“ at „Ziel“ [Destination], choose „Naturwissenschaftliche Fakultät“ from the drop down menu, and enter your hotel address at „Start“. You will get the safest fast bike route to the conference site. All the screen shots on this page are from radlkarte.

Getting to the Mayor’s Reception

Please bring your conference badge along, for admission to the Mayor’s reception. The following shows how to get from NaWi to the reception at Mirabell Palace, 3km or 13 minutes by bicycle. Alternatively, take bus #3 from stop Faistauergasse and get off at the stop Mirabellplatz. Mirabell Palace is across the street from the bus stop. In order to get to the Marble Hall, go across the interior courtyard, and take the entrance at the far end straight ahead, then towards the right. Walk up the famous Marble Staircase and follow the sounds of wine glasses.

Getting to the Conference Dinner

Please bring your conference badge along, for admission to the Conference Dinner. This is a beautiful walk of less than 2km (just above one mile), with fabulous views of the fortress and the surrounding mountains, weather permitting. I assume that there will be a group of conference attendees walking together, but here’s the city hiking map.

If you take the bus, take #3 or #8 at Faistauergasse, and get off at the bus stop Mozartsteg. Walk back, cross Imbergstraße at the traffic light, walk towards and across the bridge „Mozartsteg“, and from there it’s a beautiful 500m walk through the old city, towards the fortress. All the locals should know the restaurant Stieglkeller at the base of the fortress hill, so you can’t really get lost. Here’s a map anyways. Regarding the return trip to your hotel, note that the buses going Northwest run on the North side of the river, and the buses going Southeast run on the South side.
