Practical exercises on biophysics (physics for biologists)

For a quantitative comprehension of physical phenomena, after attending the course Physical foundations of measurement techniques the attendees have to perform eight experiments on physics and biophysics related to subjects relevant to biological sciences (mechanics, thermodynamics, electricity, optics and nuclear physics). The attendee should gain practice in

  • the manual handling of measuring instruments
  • the data evaluation by recording the experimental details and data, the set-up of diagrams and the interpretation of the results
  • the comparison with theoretical predictions taking into account experimental uncertainties.

The insight gained in a number of different physical measurement methods should enlarge the capability of the attendees to solve own measuring tasks in later stages.
