4th International Conference on the Church of the East in China and Central Asia 2013
From June 8 to 11, 2013, distinguished scholars from Australia, Turkey, the United States, the United Kingdom, China, Austria, Germany, Canada, Sri Lanka, Japan, and other countries gathered once again in Salzburg for the Fourth International Conference on the Churches of the East in China and Central Asia. The conference provided an interdisciplinary forum for the presentation and discussion of new research findings on East Syriac Christianity.
As part of the conference, a PRO ORIENTE Academy lecture was held on June 8 entitled “The Sacraments of the Church of the East,” delivered by Mar Awa Royel (Assyrian Church of the East, Diocese of California, USA), a leading specialist in East Syriac liturgy, who in 2021 was elected Catholicos-Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East.
