Der Workshop und die Buchpräsentation mit Laura Rahm an der Universität Salzburg brachten Nachwuchswissenschaftler:innen zu einem Austausch über akademische Publikationsstrategien und globale Gender Governance zusammen. Die zweiteilige Veranstaltung verband einen praxisnahen Workshop zur Entwicklung von Buchprojekten und zur Navigation von Publikationsprozessen mit einer Diskussion von Rahms aktueller Open-Access-Monografie zu transnationaler Genderpolitik und der umkämpften Rahmung sogenannter „schädlicher Praktiken“.

The afternoon begins with the interactive workshop, The Nuts and Bolts of Academic Book Writing, providing junior researchers and postdocs with practical guidance on turning a dissertation or research project into a book proposal, navigating academic publishing, and developing long-term writing projects. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss their own book ideas and projects in an interactive setting.
The event continues with a presentation and discussion of Rahm’s newly published open-access monograph, The Global Governance of Harmful Practices. Drawing on political sociology, demography, and gender studies, the book offers a critical, interdisciplinary perspective on global gender governance and the hidden “knowledge battles” over what counts as a harmful practice.
