24 September to 8 December 2026 | Online: The CIVIS partner universities once again invite participants to join online language cafés for Romance, Slavic and Nordic languages. These free events promote plurilingualism, intercultural exchange and the practical use of language skills in an international environment. The language cafés are organised by Språkstudion at Stockholm University and the Language Centre of the University of Salzburg within the framework of the CIVIS University Alliance. The Romance Language Café is additionally organised in cooperation with the University of Thessaly.

The Erasmus+ project “Promouvoir l’éducation plurilingue – Partage de pratiques, formation et information (PEP)” concluded at the end of August after three years of successful collaboration. The project aimed to promote plurilingual education and to support language teachers, both in initial teacher education and continuing professional development, in designing teaching approaches that integrate plurilingualism. A key foundation of the project was a Europe-wide survey investigating educators’ attitudes towards and practices relating to plurilingualism. Based on the findings, the project developed a range of resources, including adaptable good-practice examples for language teaching, a bilingual reference work, Wikiversity/Wikiversité sections on key concepts of plurilingual education, and a hybrid professional development programme for teachers. All project outputs are freely available to teachers, researchers, and educational institutions via the project website.

Registration Phase 2: 21 September to 16 October 2026 | In the winter semester 2026/27, the Language Centre of the University of Salzburg offers language courses in twelve languages. The programme includes both general language courses and specialised courses, such as Business English, Academic Language, “Learn Romance languages through networking”, and “Culture and language: Austria and more” for learners of German. The programme is complemented by a range of additional services, including the Language Tandem, Language Meetups, and Language advising for all languages.
