Workshop
EUSOFTLAW – The EU Dimension
On 19 and 20 March 2026, the workshop “EUSOFTLAW – The EU Dimension” took place. Funded by the Austrian National Bank Jubilaeumsfonds, the event brought together academics and practitioners from EU institutions, financial agencies, and national competent authorities to explore the expanding role of soft law in EU financial governance. The discussions incorporated perspectives from the European Systemic Risk Board, the European Banking Authority, the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority, the European Securities and Markets Authority, and the newly established Anti-Money Laundering Authority, among other EU institutions, bodies, agencies, and national competent authorities represented by leading experts in the field. The workshop aimed to engage participants in the ongoing academic debate on simplification and, most importantly, to foster meaningful discussions on mapping soft law in financial market regulation across these agencies and bodies, thereby contributing to the development of a taxonomy of EU soft law in financial markets.
