Studium der Islamwissenschaft, Allgemeinen Rhetorik und Sinologie in Tübingen und Istanbul, 2014 Promotion im Fach Sinologie in Tübingen. 2014-2019 Leiter des European Centre for Chinese Studies (ECCS) an der Peking-Universität. Seit 2019 Senior Scientist im Bereich Außereuropäische Geschichte und Globalgeschichte an der Universität Salzburg.
