Apply for the Nuclear Risks and Long-Term Peacekeeping Walkshop
Students of sociology and social geography are invited to apply for the ‘Nuclear Risks and Long-Term Peacekeeping Walkshop’ in Scotland from 26 June to 01 July 2025.
The walkshop combines walking with discussions and an audio curriculum on topics such as nuclear disarmament, international security and peacekeeping. Participants can embark on a five-day expedition around Loch Lomond and visit HM Naval Base Clyde and the Peace Camp at Faslane to experience the reality of nuclear deterrence first-hand.
Who can apply?
This Walkshop is open to students and young professionals aged 18 to 35 from all disciplines who have an interest in international relations, peace studies, security policy, law, or environmental studies. No prior experience is required—only a passion for hiking and a desire to learn about and engage with global issues.
Funding
Thanks to the generous support of the Apfelbaum Foundation, the Foundation for the Rights of Future Generations (FRFG) can provide accommodation, travel between learning stations, and meals for the entire duration of the Walkshop for successful applicants. Participants are responsible for arranging and covering their own travel to and from Glasgow.
We would greatly appreciate it if you could share this opportunity with your students via email, social media, or university newsletters. The Walkshop 2025 flyer is also attached for distribution.
