Culture is writ large in the festival city of Salzburg, and the University of Salzburg also regularly hosts a wide variety of events. Culinary delights should not be neglected either: Drop by one of the university dining halls or visit one of the many restaurants in Salzburg’s old town.

  • Events at the PLUS

    In addition to courses, various events take place at the University of Salzburg on an ongoing basis. These are not only for students, but also for prospective students and the general public.

    Highlights at the beginning and end of studies:

    PLUSinformiert: Anyone who wants to study at the University of Salzburg should visit the Open Day – it takes place every year in March.

    Sponsorship and graduation ceremony: At this ceremony, the academic title is solemnly awarded by the rector of PLUS.

  • Food options

    Between lectures and studying, there is little time to cook fresh food every day? Don’t worry, the refectories and cafeterias at the University of Salzburg offer a variety of ways to get through the university day fortified. Whether it’s a revitalising coffee in the morning, a healthy meal at lunchtime or a small snack in between – with the student ID and the “Mensa Card”, varied food and drink remains affordable for students.

    Outside of university opening hours, the culinary offerings of renowned restaurants in the city of Salzburg are available. In addition, members of a “FoodCoop” can do their shopping fairly, seasonally and regionally.

    In addition to the cafeteria in the Faculty of Natural and Life Sciences, the Österreichische Mensen Betriebsgesellschaft also operates three  cafeterias. At lunchtime, you can choose between menus that change daily at all three locations. The best thing about it: sustainable products, courteous service and freshly prepared meals with selected regional raw materials every day are the top priorities.

    EDEN Canteen in the Unipark & EDEN Café Skybar

    A special place for lunch breaks is the roof terrace café at Unipark Nonntal. There you can enjoy delicious food with a panoramic view of the Hohensalzburg Fortress, the Untersberg and the Gaisberg. On the ground floor of the University of Salzburg, the EDEN canteen offers freshly prepared meals at reasonable prices.

    Seasonal, regional, ecological and socially just shopping: A “FoodCoop” (Food Cooperative) is an association of people who purchase products directly from the producers in a self-organised manner according to ecological and social criteria.

    It is about:

    Fairness: Fair prices for producers and consumers.

    Transparency: distribution channels and internal organisation

    Ecological and social compatibility: fair production conditions and cultivation methods, fair payment and prices, reduction of packaging and transport routes.
