Do you speak Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, Romanian or another Romance language at B1 level or higher? Then you’re warmly invited to the Romance Language Café, taking place every Thursday from 18 September to 11 December.

The café brings together language enthusiasts from across Europe. you speak Italian, your conversation partner speaks French, someone else speaks Romanian – and you can understand each other, because Romance languages share many similarities in vocabulary and grammar. This creates a dynamic, plurilingual exchange where you can deepen your language skills and discover new varieties.

Whether you want to brush up your skills, explore new languages, or are simply curious about how far mutual understanding can go – join us and experience a plurilingual adventure!

You’ll practice expressing yourself clearly and understandably – especially for people who don’t speak your language. Helpful strategies include:

• speaking slowly and clearly
• repeating and paraphrasing
• using shared word roots
• supporting your speech with gestures and visual cues

Admission: Free – participation is open to all members of the CIVIS alliance, i.e. for students and staff ot the University of Salzburg
