The University of Salzburg sees itself as a place of civilised academic exchange and peaceful encounters between a wide variety of cultures. We cultivate this exchange with academics and students from all over the world, including Ukraine and Russia.

We are deeply shocked by the events in Ukraine. The University of Salzburg vehemently condemns the Russian Federation’s unlawful attack on Ukraine, which cannot be justified in any way. The sovereignty of Ukraine and its right to self-determination are non-negotiable.

Our thoughts are with the victims of war and its violence. Our admiration goes out to those who oppose war and have to fear professional consequences or even danger to life.
