Who is this for?
Our experience days are aimed at upper secondary school students preparing for their final exams who …
- are exploring career options,
- want to learn more about a specific Bachelor’s program or get a general overview of our department’s offerings,
- simply want to experience a morning of real university life.
These taster days are particularly interesting for schools with a focus on science or education – but of course, all interested students are welcome. The program is suitable for students from grade 6 of general secondary schools (AHS) and from grade 3 of vocational secondary schools (BHS).
What happens during a Experience Day?
- 09:00 – Meeting point in the foyer and walk together to the lecture hall
- Introductory session with information about the department, degree programs, career options, and a glimpse into our research (approx. 40 min)
- Introduction to the PLUSTRACK community network – mentoring, coaching, and community events (approx. 20 min)
- Workshop I of your choice (approx. 60 min)
- Break/snack (approx. 30 min), optionally in our cafeteria
- Workshop II of your choice (approx. 60 min)
- Farewell around 12:45

- Herbarium Excursion – Spend a morning exploring our plant collection.
- Towers of Hanoi – A mathematical puzzle of logic and patience that shows how algorithms work. Cooperation with the Department of Mathematics
- Electron Microscopy – Discover fascinating structures at the nanometer scale!
- Natural Radioactivity – What is it, and how does it work?
- School Biology Center – Experience animals up close and learn exciting facts!
- What is Infinity? – Mathematics and Hilbert’s fictional infinity tracks help us explore this intriguing question. Cooperation with the Department of Mathematics
- Tracing the Urban Climate – Explore local environmental conditions.
- The Fascinating World in a Drop of Water – Discover microscopic life.
- “Moving Mountains” – Mountains in flux and their impact on biodiversity.
- Diverse and Detailed – Identification of local insects.
- Dry Bones? – What skeletons reveal about animal life.
- Extracting Roots Numerically – Hands-on numerical experiments. Cooperation with the Department of Mathematics
