CARE Action Day – (Self-)Empowerment

The CARE Action Day offers an opportunity to find out more about care, support and assistance. It is specifically designed to empower people in need of support (due to, for example, disability, chronic illness, accident or old age), as well as those caring for family member and other close people, to make informed decisions, learn about services, support options and measures available, and thereby help ease the burden of everyday life.
Invited are all interested staff members and students of the University of Salzburg as well as all other universities in the town and province of Salzburg.
The CARE Action Day – (Self-)Empowerment provides:
- Presentations/Talks: These cover relevant topics relating to care, support and assistance
- Information stands: Official bodies, service providers, associations, initiatives, etc. will present themselves and their services relating to care, support and assistance. Visitors can ask specific questions and make contacts.
- Confidential setting: A separate room is available for confidential discussions and topics.
- Discussions and networking

Every care situation is unique, as both health conditions and personal and family circumstances vary. This often challenging situation is sometimes made even more difficult by a lack of clarity regarding the support and relieving options available to those affected and their family caregivers. DGKP Claudia Bernhard-Kessler provides an overview of care and support services, as well as the condition of dementia. She explores various aspects of home care, as well as long-term and short-term care, provides information on financial and legal support services, and discusses how to prepare for future needs in these areas. She also addresses questions on topics such as offers of relieve for caregivers, care and hospice leave, and 24-hour care.
