Hay Fever Affects Immune Cells in the Brain and the Formation of New Neurons
In reference to hay fever, one thinks, in particular, of an itchy nose and watery eyes. That a grass pollen allergy could also influence brain functions seems somewhat surprising, at first glance. A study was recently published by Barbara Klein and Ludwig Aigner of the Paracelsus Medical University in Salzburg who worked together with Josef Thalhamer and Richard Weiss of the Paris University of Salzburg, on their relevant findings.
Before the Height of Glacial Melting
The critical time for Austrian glaciers has begun. This time takes place during the summer months of July and August. If and how much they will melt this year will be reported by Heinz Slupetzky, Professor i. R. at the Department of Geography and Geology at the University of Salzburg, and Andrea Fischer, glacier researcher at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Mountain Research of Austrian Academy of Sciences in Innsbruck, in their traditional journal/log book.
