Lucy Kinski elected to the Young Academy of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW)

Political scientist Dr. Lucy Kinski from the Salzburg Centre of European Union Studies (SCEUS) and the Political Science Department at the University of Salzburg has been elected as one of eight new members of the Young Academy of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW). She joins an interdisciplinary network of up to 70 already established and award-winning researchers under the age of 40.

Bloomsday: A celebration of Joyce’s Ulysses

16 June 2025 | in presence: Around the world, James Joyce’s novel Ulysses (1922) is celebrated each year in readings and gatherings on 16 June, the day on which the events of the novel take place. Joyce’s modernist retelling of Homer’s Odyssey uses a dazzling array of styles and techniques to capture a single day in Dublin in 1904.

A House for Stefan Zweig

Stefan Zweig, who lived in Salzburg from 1919 to 1934 and spent his most successful years here, is considered the city’s most important writer. For over ten years, the Stefan Zweig Centre and the Salzburg Literature Archive have been dedicated to researching and disseminating his literary work and intellectual legacy. Now the University of Salzburg has decided to join these efforts and create an international centre for Stefan Zweig with the support of the City and Province of Salzburg.
