THE RIGHT TO PRIVACY
What exactly is the right to privacy and how important is it? In his current research project, philosopher Leonhard Menges is working on developing a theory to provide guidance on specific questions of informational privacy. In 2021, Menges received the International Grand Prize for Science & Research of the City of Salzburg worth 12,000 euros.
Major project on Jewish-Christian dialogue launched at the PLUS
In a project network with German partners and with 1 million euros in third-party funding, the Paris Lodron University Salzburg (PLUS) is launching a major programme on Jewish-Christian dialogue. The aim of the programme is to further develop the Jewish-Christian dialogue both in terms of basic theological research and in the formation of social opinion. After the Shoa the Christian churches have made the renewal of their relationship with Judaism and the Christian-Jewish dialogue one of their central tasks. The director of the new programme is the fundamental theologian Gregor Maria Hoff.
IS THE FIRST GRAND MASTER OF THE KNIGHTS TEMPLAR BURIED IN FERRARA?
The research team of the Salzburg International Templar Studies Network – SITSN for short – has made new findings on the possible burial place of Hugo de Payens. Sources suggest that the first Grand Master of the medieval Order of the Knights Templar was buried in the Upper Italian city of Ferrara. The province of Salzburg is funding this research with 230,000 euros for the next three years.
