Diane Fromage appointed professor at the RWW Faculty

Diane Fromage has been teaching at the Department of Legal Theory, International and European Law at the PLUS’s Faculty of Law and Economics since the summer semester of 2022. Dr. Fromage’s courses cover general European law as well as economic integration.

Diane Fromage’s research focuses on democratic issues in the European Union (EU), the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) and the Banking Union in particular. She deals with questions such as the existence of a democratic deficit in the EU or the most appropriate form of completing the banking union. “I am fascinated by how dynamic and evolving the process of European integration is,” says the university professor.

The law scholar’s main goal in her teaching is to familiarise students with current developments in European law and to ensure that they understand how the European legal order influences their everyday lives.

Diane Fromage graduated from Sciences Po Lille (France) and the University of Münster (Germany) and completed her PhD at the Universities of Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona, Spain) and Pavia (Italy). She then became a Max Weber postdoctoral fellow at the European University Institute of Florence, before working as an assistant professor at Utrecht University and then at Maastricht University. Since September 2020, she was Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellow at Sciences Po Paris (France) before taking up her professorship at the PLUS.
