Master’s thesis on the topic of “Invasive marble cancer” in Salzburg

Kristina Aigner from the Department of Biosciences at PLUS is investigating the occurrence of the invasive marbled crayfish in the Karlsbad Pond in the north of Salzburg as part of her Master’s thesis (MSc Ecology & Evolution). The work is supervised by Prof. Ulrike Berninger (Zoological Ecology Group) and Mag. Stefan Brameshuber (ARTENreich OG) and receives support from the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the PLUS, the Province of Salzburg, and the Provincial Fisheries Association of Salzburg, among others.

The background, approach and goals of the Master’s thesis were described in two interesting reports in the SN and the ORF Salzburg on 6 July 2021, and the province of Salzburg also dedicated an article to the project on its website:
