The Austrian Academy of Sciences recently honoured eleven young researchers for their excellent achievements. Haliemah Mocevic from the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg was awarded for her dissertation project Migration background and educational success from a social psychological perspective (“Migrationshintergrund und Bildungserfolg aus sozialpsychologischer Perspektive“).

The Dissertation Award for Migration Research totalling 4,000 euros is awarded for an ongoing dissertation project in disciplines of the social sciences, humanities and law that is being carried out at an Austrian university and deals with flight and migration, the integration of migrants or the changes in societies as a result of migration.

Haliemah Mocevic

Haliemah Mocevic completed a Master’s degree in Psychology (2014) and in Intercultural Studies (2012) at the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg. She completed postgraduate specialist training as a clinical and health psychologist in 2017. Haliemah Mocevic worked as a research assistant at the Salzburg University of Education from 2015 to 2019 and as a school psychologist with the Mobile Intercultural Team at the Austrian Centre for Psychological Health Promotion in Schools (ÖZPGS) until 2020.

Her dissertation project involves various topic areas, inclding social-psychological, migration and empirical educational research. Since October 2021, Haliemah Mocevic has held a position as Senior Scientist at the Department of Educational Science at the University of Salzburg; she is also involved in various projects for disadvantaged social groups.
