The Austrian Academy of Sciences presented this year’s awards for excellence in research on the 10th of December. Dipl. Ing. Dr. Volker Ziegler from the Department of Mathematics received the Edmund and Rosa Hlawka Prize for Mathematics.

This year’s dissertation prize went to mathematician, Dr. Markus Hittmeir, for his outstanding work on the factorization problem.

At the SchülerUNI, “Syrian Conflict. What makes a solution so difficult?” It was soon clear how complex the war reality is in Syria. The Department of Political Science of the of Salzburg brought light into the darkness together with the Salzburg Peace Office.
