Generation of hypoallergenic neoglycoconjugates for dendritic cell targeted vaccination: A novel tool for specific immunotherapy

Abstract:
In her work „Generation of hypoallergenic neoglycoconjugates for dendritic cell targeted vaccination: A novel tool for specific immunotherapy” Esther Weinberger has established a novel method to generate nano- and microparticles by cross-linking carbohydrates with proteins. These particles are efficiently taken up by antigen presenting cells via C-type lectin receptors resulting in enhanced immunogenicity. Additionally, the generated microparticles were hypoallergenic and could not induce activation of granulocytes, making them interesting tools not only for vaccines in general but especially for allergen specific immunotherapy.
