Remuneration for Publication

(26 August, 2009) If you have published a copyrighted work (i.e. an essay, an article, a book), you can assert a claim for remuneration to the collecting company Literar-Mechana. This claim for remuneration is due to the fact, that Literar-Mechana charges a fee for the use of copyrighted works and forwards this fee to the authors.

Literar-Mechana is a collecting company for copyright, established by authors and publishers, with the aim to collectively exercise rights of linguistic works. This company provides authors and writers the opportunity to execute their rights and is the contact point for users who intend to acquire those rights.

As trustee of the holder of rights, the Literar-Mechana levies the fee for the use of ancillary copyright and forwards the fee to the author. All authors or publishers can join the collecting company: Austrian citizenship or residence or domicile in Austria is required. Due to mutual contracts with affiliated companies, the beneficiaries are also represented abroad.
