Scientist-in-Residence program 2025

Announcement of SIR-scholarship 2025

The application deadline for the first half of 2025 expires on 31 May 2024.

The Scientist-in-Residence program invites young scientists from different disciplines to a one-month work stay in Salzburg – “city of knowledge”. The intention of the program is to give international young scientists access to Salzburg’s knowledge institutions, to promote sustainable networking and thus to initiate and carry out new projects. 2025 up to ten scholarships are available, each with a duration of one month.

Eligible to apply are young scientists who have a PhD or postdoc position at a university institution or are employed at a non-university research institution outside of Austria, or who can prove several years of scientific work. The applicant must not be older than 45 years and must have their main place of residence outside of Austria (certificate of registration).

The willingness and curiosity for dialogue and cooperation with researchers, as well as with cultural and knowledge institutions is required. It is explicitly desired to present your own focus of activity to the general public in the form of at least one publicly accessible event and other means of knowledge communication (e.g. public relations activities, interviews, etc.).
