Young Researcher of the Year

PMU Research and Innovation Awards (RIA): Dr.in Vera Paar, BSc MSc has been awarded the title Young Researcher of the Year for the second time in succession. The natural scientist and native of Salzburg works with cardiovascular biomarkers in the laboratory of the Department of Internal Medicine 2. Her work also focuses on the role of calcium in the heart at the cellular level. At the end of June, Paar obtained her PhD at the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg at the Department of Environment & Biodiversity in the working group Vascular Biology (Prof. Minnich). Outlook on her scientific future: „My work focuses on the cellular and molecular level. We now also want to perform functional analyses of pathologically-altered cardiomyocytes.“
