The University of Salzburg fosters an environment of innovative scholarship and research, research-based teaching, and vibrant dialogue with society. Located in the heart of Europe, in the UNESCO World Heritage City of Salzburg, the university offers an inspiring environment for academic and research support careers—innovative, interdisciplinary, and internationally connected.
The Department of Business is part of the Faculty of Law, Business, and Economics, known for its international orientation and interdisciplinary collaboration. The Department of Business is committed to internationally recognised, high-impact research and research-oriented teaching in the core subjects of business administration.
The Entrepreneurship Professorship is expected to represent the field of entrepreneurship in both research and teaching. The focus should be on theory-driven, empirically grounded analyses of the processes involved in the emergence, design, and development of new entrepreneurial activities as well as their embeddedness in organisational, institutional, societal, and financial contexts. Areas of research may include new venture creation and financing; dynamics within entrepreneurial teams; scaling and growth of new ventures; corporate entrepreneurship; and social and sustainable entrepreneurship.
The professorship will contribute to the research agenda of the Department of Business and the Faculty by publishing in leading academic journals and acquiring competitive third-party research funding. The position is involved in bachelor’s and master’s degree programs as well as doctoral education. Additionally, the position involves participating in academic self-governance and contributing to the university’s support structures for entrepreneurship and innovation.
A professorship at the University of Salzburg stands for forward-looking research, committed teaching, and social responsibility. It includes independent and collaborative academic work, the acquisition of third-party funding, the management of teams, and the publication of research results.
