Research interest

I am an evolutionary biologist and entomologist with an interest in phylogenetic systematics, genomics, biogeography, and conservation. The research questions that interest me the most are aspects of taxonomy, biology, ecology and genetics of my favourite model organisms, Lepidoptera (butterflies and moths). I am also interested in cultural entomology, namely the presence and role of butterflies and moths in human arts and cultures throughout history.

Currently I am working on the landscape genomics of the Danube clouded yellow (Colias myrmidone), an endangered butterfly that has been rapidly disappearing from European landscapes in recent decades, with the aim to determine the genetic signatures in the extant populations that may have helped them survive the environmental changes in modern times.
