FOR APAC INTERNATIONAL ASIA KNOW-HOW SUMMER SCHOOL 2024

Welcome to the FOR APAC International Asia Know-How Summer School 2024!


INTRODUCTION

The Forum Asia Pacific (FOR APAC) continues the long Summer School tradition of the former Chinese Studies Center at the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg (PLUS), which, together with the Eurasia-Pacific Uninet (EPU), has initiated its China Know-How Summer School for students from higher education institutions from Austria and other European countries in 1999.

Two years ago, the former Chinese Studies Center was transformed into the Forum Asia Pacific to include more countries from the Asia-Pacific region and strengthen scientific aspects of teaching and research projects in this field.

During the Covid-years and after the Covid period, our Summer School – formely known as the China Know-How Summer School –  could not take place for five years.  This year, we are very happy to annouce that we will hold our Summer School – now called – “FOR APAC International Asia Know-How Summer School” in Beijing, Xi’an and Shanghai, PR China. The Summer School welcomes students from our university and international students from other universities and universities of applied sciences to participate in order to promote a broader exchange between students from different parts of the world.

We are looking forward to welcoming students to our summer school and to jointly engage with important topics of our globalized world.

The FOR APAC International Asia Know-How Summer School 2024 offers an exiting program, which will take place in Beijing at Peking University, in Xi’an at Xi’an International Studies University and Shanghai from August 17th to Septeber 8th, 2024 (long version of the program) and respectively in Beijing at Peking University from August 17th to 31st, 2024 at Peking University (short version of the program).

The Summer School will deal with various China respectively Asia-related topics in the globalized world of today. These topics are also compliant with the four leitmotifs of the Paris Lodron University Salzburg (PLUS), which are Art in Context, Digital Life, Development & Sustainability and Health & Mind.   

The aim of the FOR APAC International Asia Know-How Summer School is to convey knowledge for a more profound understanding of China respectively Asia leaning on the aforementioned four leitmotifs of the PLUS. Topics from the fields of history, politics, law, economics, philosophy, sociology, sustainability & development, interculturality, literature, art, music, etc. are covered. In addition, expert discussions will be held with representatives of the Austrian Embassy in Beijing, of the Austrian foreign trade offices in the People’s Republic of China, with banking experts and lawyers, as well as visits to joint venture companies and excursions to places of historcal relevance.
