Gender Lecture and Performance Series – Daily Disobedience in a Gender Apartheid System – Continuous Resistance of Women in Iran

Mahsa Asgari was born in Tehran, Iran, and pursued studies in Dramatic Literature and Art History at the University of Tehran. Concurrently, she worked as adirector’s assistant and dramaturge, contributing to professional art journals with her art history publications. In 2013, she relocated to Berlin, completing her master’s studies in art history and theater studies at the Freie Universität Berlin. Throughout her academic journey, she engaged in diverse projects within the independent performance and visual arts scene. Her curatorial and dramaturgical endeavors have been showcased atvarious venues, including the Kulturfabrik Kampnagel, University of Hamburg, Museum Belvedere 21 in Vienna,and the Museum der Moderne Salzburg. Her artistic interest lies in the intersection of visual and performative arts and research-based works, focusing particularly on photojournalism and the politic of images. Mahsa Asgari currently works as a dramaturge at the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau.

Zahra Khorshidi is a Visual Artist, Curator, Arteducartor. She was born in Tehran, Iran. She received her MA in Painting in Tehran in 2008. Since 2003 herworks have been exhibited at galleries and museums in Tehran, Duha and Vienna; besides painting she has lectured in Art and Architecture History at universities in Tehran. To explore alternative educational and mediation practices in art education, she obtained a Master’s degree in Waldorf education from Danube University Krems with focus on integral Art Pedagogy. During her Master courses in Art History at the University of Vienna, she focused on exile art, postcolonial art, feminism, local-global art history, and Art Institutions in post-conflict situations. In her artistic creation, she engages with ecofeminism and representation of the postcolonial body and nature. Since 2013 she is based in Vienna. Her curatorial works and lectures have been presented in Belvedere 21 in Wien and Museum der Moderne in Salzburg.
