Skepticism About Praiseworthiness

Key data of the project

Description of the project

Some philosophers hold the view that there is good reason to doubt that we are ever morally responsible—blame- or praiseworthy—for what we do. They are responsibility skeptics. So far, responsibility skeptics have primarily focused on blame. They often add, as a side note, that what they say counts for praise as well. The starting point of the project “Skepticism about Praiseworthiness” is to contest that this is the case. The project aims to develop the most plausible version of skepticism about praiseworthiness and to investigate its implications for the debate about responsibility skepticism.
