International cooperations
University of California, Irvine

The Department of Philosophy at the Social Sciences Faculty of the University of Salzburg has maintained close links with the University of California, Irvine (UCI) since 1975. A fundamental component of this cooperation is an exchange programme. This programme offers members of the faculty and students the opportunity to spend a research and teaching period at the Department of Philosophy or the Department of Logic and Philosophy of Science at UCI (for a period of three months to one year). In return, members or students of the Californian university come to Salzburg. The cooperation also includes joint activities, such as the Salzburg-Irvine-Munich workshop series.
In addition to staff from the Department of Philosophy, students working on their dissertation are particularly eligible for this exchange programme. A stay in Irvine not only gives them the opportunity to establish or deepen their research contacts, but usually also to lead a course. For this reason, a very good command of English is a necessary prerequisite for participation in the exchange programme. Applications should be sent to Charlotte Werndl, the head of the exchange programme in Salzburg, who can also provide more detailed information.
Munich Centre for Mathematical Philosophy an der LMU München

The department maintains close links with the Munich Centre for Mathematical Philosophy at LMU Munich. Numerous joint activities have been organised and are planned (Munich can be reached easily and quickly by train from Salzburg). For example, there is a Salzburg-Irvine-Munich workshop series.
London School of Economics

The department maintains an exchange programme with the Centre for Philosophy of Natural and Social Sciences at the London School of Economics and Political Science. This offers students from the department who are working on their dissertation the opportunity to spend a research period at the Centre for Philosophy of Natural and Social Sciences and at the Department of Philosophy, Logic and Scientific Method (for a period of three months to one year). In return, students from the London School of Economics can come to Salzburg. A very good command of English is a necessary prerequisite for participation in the exchange programme. More detailed information can be obtained from Charlotte Werndl, the coordinator of the LSE-Salzburg exchange programme in Salzburg.
The Irvine-London-Munich-PoliMi-Salzburg Netzwerk

The Irvine-London-Munich-PoliMi-Salzburg Network for Philosophy and Foundations of Physics aims to foster collaboration between researchers and students from the Department of Logic and Philosophy of Science at the University of California, Irvine, the Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy at LMU Munich, the Department of Mathematics and the META Group at the Polytechnic of Milan and the Department of Philosophy (GW) at the University of Salzburg. The network’s activities include the exchange of students between the four educational institutions, the organisation of regular workshops on specific topics and an annual international conference for doctoral students and postdocs. The local coordinators are James Weatherall in Irvine, Bryan Roberts in London, Eric Curiel in Munich, Giovanni Valente in Milan and Charlotte Werndl in Salzburg.
